To ensure proper functioning, regular inspections, and if
necessary, maintenance, should take place after initial installation
during the construction process. Any damaged areas should be repaired to
retain the integrity of the protection.
Maintenance:

• Where heavy vehicular or machinery traffic is expected
during the construction process.

•
For short term solutions to protect FilterMitts™ and
FilterMitts™ Berms so they can do their jobs effectively. |
Usage:
Phase II Stormwater Products Inc.'s Environmental Fence is made of
the most biodegradable material available for fencing on the market
today.
The function of the fencing is to protect both Microbial and Sediment
FilterMitts™ and FilterMitt™ Berms ensuring that they can continue
to keep erosion under control.
Composition and function:
Phase II Stormwater Products Environmental Fencing is used to protect both Microbial and
Sediment FilterMitts™ and Microbial and Sediment FilterMitt™
Berms. This is particularly important on jobs where heavy vehicle
and machinery traffic is expected. We have seen many jobs where
traditional methods of hay bales and silt fence have become damaged
by vehicular traffic rendering this erosion control method
ineffective and offer this as a solution to the problem.
Phase II Stormwater Products Environmental Fencing is safer for
the environment then standard "Rent - A - Fence". The
fence is installed one foot off the ground so that it
does not effect wildlife passing by and it is the most biodegradable
fencing available on the market. Wildlife has no problem crossing
over FilterMitts™.
Phase II Environmental Fence and Rent - A - Fence
Phase II Stormwater Products Inc.'s
FilterMitt™ Berm is adaptable for use in conjunction with both Microbial and
Sediment FilterMitts™. FilterMitt™ Berms are used where a large range of water
flow is anticipated. The FilterMitt™ Berm slows and retains water
while allowing a slow downstream release. Infiltration is increased as the water detained behind the FilterMitt™ Berm
is given opportunity to move downward through the soil. Any water-borne
sediment is retained behind the FilterMitt™ Berm.
Microbial activity in the compost degrades some types of contaminants.
On-site FilterMitt™ Berm installation permits installation in areas where it would be
difficult to bring in pre-fabricated structures. When the FilterMitt™ Berm
is no longer needed, the decomposition of the biodegradable FilterMitt™
fabric assists in the natural dispersion of the compost, improving the
existing soil content.

Maintenance:
To ensure proper functioning, regular inspections, and, if necessary,
maintenance should take place after installation. FilterMitts™ Berms should be
inspected immediately after each rainfall-producing event, and at least
daily during prolonged rainfall events. Proper functioning and sediment
accumulation should be checked during inspection. Deposited sediments
should be removed when the level of deposition reaches approximately one
half the height of the FilterMitt™ Berms.
FilterMitts™
can be sprayed with Microbial Inoculations at
about two-month intervals to maintain high levels of active
microorganisms.
•
Appropriate uses include shoreline stabilization, on slopes and flat
areas, check dams, vegetation establishment, retaining walls, and in
backfill and bioengineering applications.
•
Compatible with vegetation establishment; plants can be installed into
the FilterMitt™ Berms.
Usage:
• Flat areas or slopes.
•
For short and long term solutions; FilterMitts™ Berms can be easily removed before
the fabric decomposes.
•
If left in place, the hessian (burlap) casing eventually biodegrades,
eliminating need for removal.
Composition and function:
Phase II Stormwater Products Inc.'s FilterMitts™ Berms are burlap
fabric Mitts filled with the appropriate compost blends, used for
sediment and erosion control where heavier water flows are anticipated.
These FilterMitt™ Berms are sized accordingly for each job, unless specified.
